Image Description: A fancy invitation on thick, textured, cream colored paper. The corners are rounded. At the very top is a filigree shape printed using a letterpress and yellow ink. The text below it is in deep blue script, also letterpress printed, and reads "Your household/is invited to attend/the 56th Annual/ Founder's Day Ball/ in celebration of our city/ Polis, California" Below the blue text is two short lines of text printed in gold foil. It reads "To be held the 5th of June/ at the Polis Hotel"
Every year, Polis holds a Founder's Day Ball. I'm not sure why we insist on calling it a ball, instead of a dance or party or something, you know, normal. This invite is one of my favorite things someone has given me. I met this woman Ella through this girl Jane who volunteers at the hospital, and she'd heard about this project and was like, super psyched about it. It was really cool, actually. She wanted to hear all about it and all about me. Anyway, so she wanted to give me this invitation. I guess a few years back she left home after meeting the mayor's daughter, Char, at this ball. Her dad and stepmom sound like grade-A shitbags, and she just took off one day with her two stepsisters, moved in with Char, and never looked back.
